Antiquities dealer Oded Golan has been arrested on suspicion of forging artifacts linked to Jesus and the Jerusalem Temple. He is being investigated for fraud, forgery, using forged documents, and perverting the course of justice. Golan was arrested Monday at his Tel Aviv home during a probe into his dealing in fake antiquities. These included the Jehoash inscription, ashoebox-sized tablet inscribed with Biblical-style Hebrew instructions on caring for the Jewish Temple, and an ossuary, or ancient burial box bearing the inscription, "James, brother of Jesus."

Israel comes first among developed nations in the number of avoidable accidents involving children. This disturbing statistic was revealed yesterday by Dr. Michal Hamo-Lotem, director of the Baterem center for children's health and safety. Dr.Hamo- Loten, told the Knesset committee for children's rights that in 2002 half a million children were brought to emergency rooms or clinicsbecause of accident or injury. Of them, 20,000 were hospitalized, some for long periods.

Most U.S. Jews believe Arabs want to destroy Israel

Some 82 percent of American Jews agree with the statement that "the goal of the Arabs is not the return of occupied territories, but rather the destruction of Israel," an annual survey by the American Jewish Committee has found. In 1999, in comparison, some 66 percent of American Jews agreed with the same statement. This is the sixth year that the key organization has carried out this survey, questioning around 1,000 Jews from across America.

Six Complaints Allege Muslims' Civil Rights Violated -- The Justice Department's inspector general is investigating six complaints from Muslims who have alleged that federal employees pursuing enforcement of the USA Patriot Act violated their civil rights or civil liberties. Among the complaints is that an immigration officer threatened a detainee by holding a loaded gun to his head, and that a federal prison guard ordered a Muslim inmate to remove his shirt so the guard could use it to shine his shoes.
