Friday's car bomb blast killed a Palestinian fighter in Gaza -- Three Palestinians have been killed in clashes in Gaza between armed men and the security forces. The violence on Friday was sparked by the death of a Palestinian resistance fighter who died in a car-bomb explosion earlier in the day. Rival Palestinian factions clashed at the funeral of Abu Youssef al-Quqa, a commander in the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), an umbrella group of fighters in Gaza often responsible for rocket attacks against Israel. Israeli settlers uprooted several almonds and grape trees in lands that belong to Beit Omaer villagers west of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Wednesday evening. Israeli aircrafts also fired at least one missile at an athletic center in Al-Rimal neighborhood in Gaza City causing serious damage to the games hall. The Popular Resistance Committees announced on Friday that its leader, Abu Yousef Al Qouqa, 44, was assassinated when a wired vehicle detonated fifty meters away from his home in Al Nassr Street, in Gaza city. Abu Abeer, the spokesperson of the Committees reported that the assassination was carried out when the army remotely detonated the car. He added that Al Qouqa wason his way to a nearby mosque for Friday prayers, and that the wired vehicle detonated as he walked by it. Al Qouqa survived three assassination attempts in during the Al Aqsa Intifada, and his house was shelled two times by the Israeli forces. A Palestinian security source reported that one Palestinian youth was shot and killed early Sunday by Israeli military fire in Juhr Al Deek area, in the central Gaza Strip; army source claimed that soldiers shot and killed one gunman. According to Israeli military sources, soldiers identified one Palestinian crawling toward the security fence separating Gaza from Israel in an area close to Al Boreij refugee camp. A prospective IDF plan provides for West Bank highways built on two levels, with Israeli motorists driving above and Palestinians below, in an effort to ease the burden of military checkpoints on Palestinians traveling in the area. The plan combines security and transportation solutions along 140 kms (out of 2,000 km of roads in the West Bank) spread out on 34 roads. According to the military source, the plan is based on having separate levels of traffic. Six of the 12 interchanges planned for this purpose have already been built. They enable Israeli passengers to travel through the upper highways "without noticing the Palestinian traffic underneath, while the Palestinian traffic remains unhindered," the source said. more..

Several farmers from Yatta village reported that settlers of Sosia illegal settlement outpost repeatedly attacked them and their orchards over the last month and uprooted at least 400 olive trees which were recently planted there. The closure bars Palestinian laborers from entering Israel, and also shuts down Gaza's main cargo crossing, Karni. Friday evening, Israeli soldiers shot and killed an eight-year old child in the village of Al Yamoun, near the West Bank city of Jenin; another resident was moderately injured. A Palestinian medical source in Jenin reported that Akaber Abdul-Rahman Zedan, 8, was shot dead after the soldiers fired with live ammunition at dozens of homes in the village; her body of the child was transferred to Khaleel Suleiman Hospital in Jenin. The child who was killed by military fire was leaving her home adjacent to the surrounded home. She died of her wounds after the soldiers delayed an ambulance trying to evacuate her. Also, an Israeli military spokesperson claimed that soldiers fired at a taxi after its driver failed to stop when ordered, and that the child was one of the passengers. JERUSALEM, March 13 (Reuters) - Israel has begun construction to link a West Bank settlement to Jerusalem, sources in the prime minister's office said on Monday, in a move a Palestinian official said could torpedo future peace talks. Israeli bulldozers have already broken ground to build a police station near Maale Adumim, the biggest West Bank settlement, as part of a project to build at least 1,000 homes on land that would link the enclave to Jerusalem, they said. The United States, which wants Israel to halt Jewish settlement expansion, has officially opposed the plan, which would cut the West Bank off from Arab East Jerusalem. Sunday night was a horrible night for fourteen year old Hamza Fawzi Iweida. He was beaten, abducted, tied to a chair and insulted, after being asked for his identity card by Israeli men who did not identify themselves. Hamza Fawzi Iweida's small body did not protect him against the intense rage forced upon him by men in civilian clothes with a civilian car. The road will be 800 meters long, and will annex Palestinian land, as well as cutting off several neighborhoods from the city and surrounding areas. The road will link several illegal Israeli settlements in Hebron together, creating a 'bloc' that will then be annexed into the Israeli state. The Palestine News Network reported that the attack was carried out during a voluntary work session conducted by the Israeli organization Rabbis for Human Rights, who were planting olive trees in solidarity with the Palestinian farmers and cave dwellers of the area. Neighbors in the town of Hadera, north of Tel Aviv, noticed a vehicle on fire at the side of the road around 3 a. m. Friday. Settlers uproot 50 trees Olive trees near Hebron

An extremist settlers group of Sousia settlement, south of the West Bank city of Hebron, uprooted on Wednesday dozens of olive trees and bushes which belong to residents of Yatta village, rising the number of uprooted trees in one month to more than 1000. Nassr Al Nawaj'a, one of the orchards owners, said that settlers of the illegal Sousia settlement outpost attacked the orchards and uprooted 50 bushes and olive trees located west of the settlement. Al Nawaj'a added that the attack was carried out while the soldiers were present in the area and did not attempt to stop assailants. The orchards belong to residents Mohammad Ahmad Nasser, Mohammad Jaber Al Nawaj'a, Hammad Abdul-Hameed Al Nawaj'a, and other residents. more..
