He highlighted that the EU foreign ministers' statement released on 8 December 2009 marked a serious opportunity to crystallize an international movement toward restoring credibility of the peace process. Furthermore, he added, a credible peace process can end the Israeli occupation and achieve a two-state solution only after Israel halts settlement activities, and all violations of international law, particularly inEast Jerusalem. However, he said Hamas was concerned that a unity deal might fail unless it is based on the necessary foundations, referring to the movement's desired amendments to the document. "We are worried of repeating past experiences which failed to heal the rift," he said. Hamas has refused to ratify the Egyptian-backed reconciliation deal, saying amendments must be made before the party agrees to the document's terms. Fatah officials have called on Hamas to discuss the changes after signing the agreement.

Although the movement is forming the new committee, it will be supported by the PLO at large, Muheisin told Palestine Radio. This time, the settlers are supported by the Occupation army and bulldozers, and also by Israeli volunteers from Tel Aviv and Herzliya. Call to action: Rachel Corrie trial in Israel and actions world wide
3/8/2010 - International Solidarity Movement - Rachel Corrie Foundation - 10-24 March 2010 - Friends, As many of you know, a civil lawsuit in the case of our daughter Rachel Corrie is scheduled for trial in the Haifa District Court beginning March 10, 2010. A human rights observer and activist, Rachel, 23, tried nonviolently to offer protection for a Palestinian family whose home was threatened with demolition by the Israeli military. On March 16, 2003, she was crushed to death by an Israel Defense Force (IDF) Caterpillar D9R bulldozer in Rafah, Gaza. The lawsuit is one piece of our family's seven-year effort to pursue justice for our daughter and sister. We hope this trial will illustrate the need for accountability for thousands of lives lost, or indelibly injured, by occupation—in a besieged and beleaguered Gaza and throughout Palestine/Israel; bring attention to the assault on nonviolent human rights activists (Palestinian, Israeli, and international); and underscore the fact that so many Palestinian families, harmed as deeply as ours, cannot access Israeli courts.
