“Nothing Will Come Between Us”
By Isabelle Humphries, Islam Online, September 7, 2002
Israeli Assault on American Servicemen Ignored 35 Years On: A new documentary broadcast by the BBC, is trying to bring attention to an Israeli attack on American personnel that both the US and Israel would rather remained in the dark. In the 1967 war, as Israel was torturing Egyptian prisoners of war at Al Arish, some 13 miles off the Mediterranean coast, the Israeli air force was bombing the USS Liberty, resulting in the deaths of 34 American servicemen. Equally disturbing is the claim that the US launched nuclear- armed planes to attack Cairo, only to turn round when they realized that it was no Arab enemy, but longtime ally Israel, that was responsible for the attack. Isabelle Humphries speaks to ship survivors and a researcher who refuse to let it lie.

War Now!
By Uri Avnery, Palestine Chronicle, September 7, 2002
(PC) - Slowly, President Bush’s war plan against Iraq is emerging from the thick fog. At first it looked like a collection of hazy slogans, but gradually it is becoming clear that it has definite - if hidden - aims. The plan is unconnected to the famous “war on terrorism”, to the personality of Saddam Hussein or to the weapons of mass destruction that Iraq is producing, like all the other states in the region, from Pakistan to Israel and Egypt.

World has drifted apart from America
By Jonathan Power, Arab News, September 8, 2002
LONDON, 8 September — The tragedy of Sept. 11 was not just the incinerated bodies and the shock to the political nervous system of our one and only superpower; it is that a year later it has led to America becoming separated from the world at large. Governments may still pay formal allegiance to Washington, but behind the façade of politeness few have a kind word.

Letter to Jerusalem
By Cynthia Cruz, Electronic Intifada, September 8, 2002
Past a waist-high metal gate, through twin sets of gardens, children rush to join me as I make my way to the house. At the front door, I am greeted by a solemn faced man, Salaam Aleikum, he says. Peace be upon you. After shaking hands and exchanging greetings, I am told we cannot meet in the main sitting room. It is near the main road and this is where the Israeli tanks roam.

9/11 ONE YEAR LATER: Force won't work
By Shlomo Ben-Ami, Jerusalem Post, September 8, 2002
Heeding the language used by politicians, specifically in the US, and particularly by President George W. Bush and his close circle, one concludes that the post-September 11 world in no way resembles that which preceded the murderous attack on the WTC. In their opinion, we are in the throes of a world war that has totally shaken up the old order, the international agenda included. This is but gross exaggeration.

International community failed Palestinian children
By Adam Hanieh, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, July 25, 2002
RAMALLAH, West Bank -- Israel's bombing of an apartment building in a residential area of the Gaza Strip as its inhabitants were sleeping is a horrific crime. The bombs, carried by U.S.-made F-16 warplanes, hit the building at around midnight Monday. Among the 14 people killed were nine children, the youngest 2 months old.
